Project Description
This project is centered on the development of a novel medical device and an accompanying data analysis program designed to detect diseases noninvasively through the analysis of patients’ breath. The research encompasses the design and engineering of the original device, field surveys conducted at hospitals and clinics, direct engagement with healthcare providers and patients, and the development of advanced data-processing algorithms. The objective is to create a cost-effective, painless, time-efficient, easily accessible, and mobile diagnostic tool. By enabling noninvasive and rapid disease detection, the device aims to expand access to quality healthcare in underserved areas with limited or no access to medical facilities, while also streamlining diagnostic procedures for broader use in clinical environments.
Team Needs
We seek undergraduate and graduate students with backgrounds and interest in medical device development and creating data-analysis algorithms. Majors of interest, but are not limited to: Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Biomedical Sciences, Engineering, Business.
Special Opportunities
Students who are actively engaged will gain hands-on experience of medical device and algorithm development as well as field-research. Members will be given the opportunity to do research presentation and co-development of the medical device.
