Project Description
This project explores elements of serious games, games designed for educational rather than entertainment purposes, that help to effectively enhance critical thinking and problem-solving skills in engineering students. Drawing from a recent synthesis of peer-reviewed publications, we aim to identify the key game elements (such as adaptability, feedback, and structured tasks) that influence students’ engagement and cognitive growth.
We are currently transitioning this research into a journal publication. We’re recruiting undergraduate or graduate students interested in educational research, game design, engineering education, or human-computer interaction to help with tasks such as:
• Conducting additional literature reviews
• Assisting with writing and revising sections of the manuscript
• Helping visualize conceptual frameworks (e.g., diagrams, charts)
Why Join?
You’ll gain experience in publishing academic work, deepen your understanding of game-based learning, and contribute to a growing body of interdisciplinary research. Ideal for students pursuing careers in academia, instructional design, or user-centered tech development.
Team Needs
Experience with research databases, covidence, citation styles, will be a nice have, but these can be learnt while working on the project.
Special Opportunities
You get the opputunity to have a publication in your name.
