Who Can Join
Graduate Students, Masters Students, Undergraduate Students

Project Description
Participants will collaborate on structured AI-focused projects and review article writing to explore how tools such as machine learning, deep learning, simulation modeling, and large language models (LLMs) are transforming animal and veterinary science. Training will focus on critically evaluating AI methodologies, identifying research gaps, synthesizing literature into clear conceptual frameworks, and producing plagiarism-free, journal-ready review manuscripts. In parallel, selected mini-projects will offer hands-on experience with data exploration and modeling using animal health, production, genomic, and sensor data, along with developing conceptual AI pipelines for veterinary decision support and explainable insights. Core themes include AI-based disease prediction and health monitoring, precision livestock farming, welfare assessment, integrated data systems, sustainable livestock decision support, and ethical, explainable AI in veterinary practice.

Team Needs
Undergraduate, Master’s, and Graduate Students (backgrounds in animal science, veterinary science, genetics, agricultural systems, data science, sustainability science, or environmental modeling can join the team. We welcome students with interests or developing skills in scientific writing and literature synthesis, statistics, machine learning or simulation modeling, and generative AI, including large language models (LLMs). Weekly meetings will be conducted in person or virtually, with a strong focus on learning new techniques, collaborative discussion, and structured progress tracking.

Special Opportunities
• Hands-on training in AI applications for veterinary and animal sciences, including conceptual and applied model development
• Structured guidance on critical review writing, literature synthesis, and preparation of journal-ready review articles
• Experience in designing AI-based decision support tools that address real-world veterinary challenges
• Opportunities to co-author scientific publications in high-impact journals
• Exposure to interdisciplinary collaboration across animal science, veterinary science, and data science
• Opportunities to present research at academic conferences and research forums
• Ideal preparation for careers at the intersection of veterinary science, artificial intelligence, and sustainable animal systems

This group is ideal for students aiming to build careers at the intersection of veterinary science, artificial intelligence, and sustainable animal systems.
