Project Description
We are conducting a study on grapevine leaf morphology to analyze leaf shape and vein patterns across 226 individual plants.
We are looking for a group of motivated and patient undergraduate students to assist with this project. The main task will be using ImageJ software to trace leaf outlines and venation patterns from scanned images.
Team Needs
Each leaf will take approximately 30–40 minutes to complete, so patience and consistency are essential.
The primary task involves carefully tracing leaf outlines and vein structures using ImageJ software.
No prior experience with ImageJ is required—training will be provided! But a willingness to learn and the ability to follow procedures carefully are critical. Students who are reliable, meticulous, and committed to contributing to a large dataset of 226 grapevine leaves will be especially valuable to our team.
Personal computer is required
Special Opportunities
1. Gain basic hands-on skills on ImageJ, a widely applied tool in biological research
2. Develop valuable skills in careful observation, data organization, and reproducible scientific methods
3. For students interested in pursuing a master’s degree or further research, this project offers an inspiring first step into the world of scientific inquiry
4.Contribute to an ongoing grapevine genetics and breeding study!
