Project Description
In this project, we will collect data from families with kindergartener to 2nd graders to better understand how math anxiety develop in the early educational stage. Student researchers will attend recruitment events, run experiments, and process data. There will also be opportunities for those students who are interested in working on conference presentations and manuscripts for publications.
Team Needs
Responsible and motivated students who are interested in engaging in psychological research are welcome to apply. Due to the nature of the work, students will need to be available and flexible on weekends and evening times in order to accommodate participants’ schedules. In addition, students must be comfortable with interaction with potential participants (parents and children) to recruit them into the study and to collect data from them. Minimum commitment requirement: 10hr/week for 2 semesters
Special Opportunities
Students will be trained to work with young children and family to collect information using methods such as survey/interview, neurocognitive tests, standardized achievement tests, psychophysiology, and observation. Students will also have the opportunities to work on conference presentations and manuscripts for publications should they be interested in such activities.
